School Sucks!

I used to "love" school and I would hate missing a day of it...mostly because I would always feel guilty about just the thought of missing (even if I was extremely ill).  I always got good grades and went above and beyond...my momma taught me well :)  I was the shy, quiet girl that not everybody knew, but when mentioned, they would say I was sweet (Miss Goody-Two Shoes, if you will).

Well, halfway through my junior year of high school, I became a little rambunctious and came out of my little shell.  I made friends with a few girls (who I'm no longer friends with now due to these reasons) who took me to parties and introduced me to things a sheltered girl wasn't used to.  So due to that, school slowly became second priority, but I still managed to get descent grades and graduate.

I went off to a junior college nearby, transferred to an interior design school, and just about a year ago, transferred again to the school I go to now, that I was told is supposed to help me graduate in half the time of going to a regular university.

When I first transferred, I was told that I'd be able to finish classes by mid-year 2012 and that I would be able to test out of all the general ed classes that I hadn't completed yet.  I've been going to this school for about a year now and my schedule has been right on track, until now...

Last week, I kept getting phone calls from a lady at my school, but I never had time to answer (working with kids is very much time consuming).  She would leave a voicemail every time, but would just say her name and to please call her back, with no follow up email like everyone else I've talked to at my school.  So, I just assumed that it had to do with something about my student loan being accepted and dispersed, and I didn't feel the need to immediately call her back.  I wish I would have though because come to find out, my class schedule was about to change.  I finally got ahold of her last Friday and she tells me that amidst the 11 psychology classes I've taken in the last year, that I can't take the twelfth psych class until I complete a required writing prerequisite.  Um...what the heck!?

So the last 48 hours have been filled with emails and phone calls going back and forth between me and three different ladies at my school to get this figured out and why no one had contacted me sooner to tell me this so I was able to test out of it.  I just figured that I would complete all the required psych classes for my psychology degree and then move onto the needed general ed classes that I still had to take.  Guess I was wrong.

This school is getting more and more frustrating by the week.  My counselor seems to change every few months, my class schedule seems to keep changing every month, and even though my major is psychology, seriously, do I need to take a million psych classes?  So I just told one of the counselors I talked to today that I want to test out of all the classes I'm able to and just be done with this school and get my degree.  So she set me up this Friday to test out of this upcoming writing class and is sending me information to prepare me for the next tests I will have to take to test out of other classes.  It's not what I wanted to hear, but I guess it will have to do.

The next few days will be filled with crammed studying of english practice tests and my bank account decreasing by $100. Yay.....  I know I'll do good, but I am so horrible at taking tests.  Wish me luck please!

One Year Anniversary Recap

As many of you know, last Sunday was amazing boyfriend and my one year anniversary.  I was so excited for it because it was a celebration of one full year that we've been together and, well, I just love anniversaries!

The day started off by me getting woken up around 6:30/7am, I think (all I know is that it was too early to think) by amazing boyfriend giving me a kiss goodbye before he headed off to work...for the next 9-10 hours (poor guy gets worked to the bone at his job, but thankfully he got a promotion and transferred, but more on that later).  I got up a bit later to start my normal Sunday routine: church at 9, then spend the rest of the day with the fam.

I headed back home around 5ish to be home by around the same time amazing boyfriend gets home.  When I got there, there was a card and gift card waiting for me on the dining room table.  The card was mushy and sweet as always and the gift card was from Wet Seal (my absolute favorite place to shop) in the amount of...wait for it... $100!!  Can you believe it!?  He is just way too amazing.  However, I was a little upset when I didn't see flowers sitting there also, like every anniversary, but the shopping spree I was about to have made up for it.  (I spent it all two days later, plus a little more...shh!)

I quickly set out his present and waited for him to come home.  When he finally arrived, he opened his present(s) and was totally amazed.  He's been recently trying gain some extra weight (sheesh, men), and has been wanting to buy a scale, so I went to Bed Bath & Beyond, where they were having awesome deals that day, and bought him a really nice, but still cheap, digital scale.  A little weird, I know, for an anniversary gift, but that's just how we are... I mean for Valentines Day he got me a Dyson vacuum, which I've always wanted just because they are awesome!  But anyways, I didn't want to just get him that, so I was looking online for some ideas for a one year anniversary gift, and I came across the yearly gift list (you know, year one: paper, year two: , etc..).  I know this is mostly for marriage anniversaries, but I thought, why not?  So, since year one is paper, and I'm pretty good at drawing, I figured I'd sketch him a picture of him and me and frame it.

It's not the greatest.  I drew it pretty quickly, but he loved it.  And to me, that's all that matters.  After opening presents, we headed out to dinner at The Lazy Dog Cafe.  It's not how it sounds, like a small cafe where poets come every night to play weird music while they read their latest poems, haha.  It's a really nice restaurant with really good food.  And not too expensive either.  We even got an ice cream sundae that was served in a doggy bowl!

Now, I know you've all been wondering, but have probably figured out since I haven't posted anything about it...he didn't pop the question.  I wasn't too bummed, because that probably would've seemed too cliche if he had, being our one year and all.  But I know when the time is right, it will be perfect and I'll probably most likely cry.

All in all, the night was great and we're still very much in love <3
